Melaleuca Business Review - Scam Or Legit

If you are active in the online marketing industry, you have most like heard of Melaleuca. I was recently asked by someone whether they are a scam or legit. I have investigated this company and here is my personal, unbiased review.

About the company
Melaleuca, the Wellness company, was founded by Frank Vandersloot in 1985. Before Frank took over Melaleuca, they had been making some false marketing claims, not supported by the FDA (Food And Drug Administration). When Frank took over, he immediately revamped the compensation plan, which made the opportunity they offer much more favourable to their Marketing Execs. All representatives were encouraged to start recruiting more people, instead of selling the actual product. Since then, the company has seen its sales grow and became much more established in many countries all around the world.

The products
When the company was founded, their product line consisted of an extract from the Melaleuca plant.

(A genus of plants in the myrtle family Myrtaceae. There are well over 200 recognized species, most of which are endemic to Australia. Source: Wikipedia). Today, their product line is much broader and now includes Personal Care items, Pharmaceuticals, House Hold Cleaners and Nutritional Supplements. Most of the products are organic.

The business opportunity
They are a typical Network Marketing / Multi Level Marketing business. Knowing this, in order to make decent dollars and achieve success, one has to build a substantial downline of customers, that either buy the products, or become a distributor themselves and start to recruit others. This can be achieved by organising home parties, hotel meetings or simply cold calling. The best way to start is, within the 'warm market', thus family and friends. It is my personal opinion, that once you have exhausted that market, it will be very difficult to sell the product or attract new people for your downline.

My conclusion
Melaleuca is not a scam. They are legit and offer a solid product line to sell. I do believe however that, this business is not for everyone. If you enjoy bothering your friends and family, host product parties, organise hotel presentations and meetings and cold calling, then this may be your thing. If you are looking for a home based business, I strongly recommend you look for a company that offers you a very solid, up-to-date mentoring and marketing package with ongoing training by means of weekly, live webinars. You need to learn to master all the current marketing methods and strategies in order to be successful. If you find the right program, you will reach your financial goals and you will start earning significant (residual) income.

I hope you enjoyed this article and... again, as always, I wish you the best of luck in finding the right business for you!
